Electric vehicles are the future – time to start driving in the right direction!

EV charging hub in Glasgow

In an effort to increase the availability of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, SSE Energy Solutions has launched its first ultra-rapid EV charging hub in Glasgow. This is part of the company’s larger plan to deliver 300 such hubs across the UK and Ireland in the next five years. The new charging hub is located at the Glasgow Fort shopping center and features four 350kW chargers that can charge an EV in as little as 15 minutes.

The need for more EV charging infrastructure has been evident for some time now, as the number of EVs on the road has been steadily increasing. One of the main barriers to wider adoption of EVs has been “range anxiety,” or the fear that a vehicle will run out of charge before reaching its destination. With chargers that can add 350 kilometers (217 miles) of range in just 15 minutes, SSE Energy Solutions’ new ultra-rapid charging hub should help to alleviate this concern for many drivers.

In addition to increasing the availability of charging infrastructure, SSE Energy Solutions is also working to make its charging hubs more user-friendly and convenient. The company plans to install digital signage at all of its locations that will provide real-time information on charger availability, charging speeds, and estimated time to full charge. SSE Energy Solutions is also working on a mobile app that will allow drivers to pay for their charges remotely.

SSE Energy Solutions’ new ultra-rapid EV charging hub is a welcome addition to the growing number of EV charging infrastructure projects underway in the UK and Ireland. With plans to deliver 300 such hubs in the next five years, SSE Energy Solutions is helping to make EVs a more viable option for drivers who are concerned about range anxiety. In addition to increasing the availability of chargers, SSE Energy Solutions is also working to make its charging hubs more user-friendly and convenient with digital signage and a mobile app.
